Our Doctors

Dr. Stacy Skoraczewski

Dr. Stacy Skoraczewski joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in October 2017.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from UW-Green Bay, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.  Dr. Stacy practices small animal medicine, but has treated over 60 species of animals, including large animals, exotics, and wildlife.  Dr. Stacy practiced in northern Minnesota for three and a half years, and spent the last four years in her northern Wisconsin hometown on Lake Superior.

Dr. Stacy’s interests include ophthalmology, dermatology, surgery and preventative medicine.  She also has interests in wildlife medicine, and has been a veterinarian for the North American Bear Center and International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota.  Dr. Stacy enjoys caring for working dogs, such as hunting dogs, and sled dogs, including those that have participated in major races such as the Iditarod.  She loves working with all animals, and strives to provide the best individualized care for each patient.  When not in the clinic, Dr. Stacy loves to golf, hike, paddle board, travel, and bake.  Her absolute favorite thing to do is spend time with her family, which includes her husband, son, and Labrador Gabe. 

Dr. Emily Abrams

Dr. Emily Abrams joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in January 2014 after one year of general practice in Wausau, WI.  Dr. Abrams received her bachelor degree in Biology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR in 2004 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2012.  During her 4th year of veterinary school Dr. Abrams participated in an externship at the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic.  She enjoyed her time at the clinic immensely and is excited to be a permanent member of the team. 

Dr. Abrams’ interests include dermatology, preventative medicine and internal medicine.  She also has interests in wildlife rehabilitation and participated in a 3 month internship at the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minoqua, WI.  She has a special place in her heart for dogs and cats and strives to provide compassionate care for all her patients.  She has three pets of her own, a dog, Barkley, and two cats, Scratch and Cricket.  Outside of the clinic Dr. Abrams enjoys photography, bird-watching, hiking and gardening.  Most of all she enjoys spending time with her husband, son and family. 

Dr. Sarah Thornberg

Dr. Sarah Thornberg joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in July 2019. She received her Bachelor degree in Biology from Oregon State University in 2008 and moved to Madison to achieve her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. She has been practicing in clinics surrounding the Madison area since graduation. Dr. Thornberg’s interests include dentistry, preventative medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. She enjoys communicating and working with clients to deliver the best care for their pets.

Dr. Thornberg and her husband have chosen to settle in Waunakee to raise their two young boys. She is excited to become a member of the clinic and part of the Waunakee community. When Dr. Thornberg is not working, she enjoys travelling, playing table-top games, and spending quality time with her family.

Dr. Andrea Foley

Dr. Andrea Foley joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in July 2022. She graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Upon graduation she practiced small animal medicine in Columbia, MO. Prior to moving to Wisconsin, she also worked at the University of Missouri exploring muscle and bone changes in astronauts and geriatric populations. After moving to WI in 2006, she began teaching at Madison College Veterinary Technician Program. Shortly afterwards she transitioned to Program Director and Attending Veterinarian at Madison College. She retired from teaching in December 2021.

Dr. Foley’s interests include preventative and internal medicine. She appreciates the opportunity to work with clients providing compassionate care. Dr. Foley enjoys spending time with her family and standard poodles Faye and Apollo. She loves to explore WI, cook, hike, bike, and play board games.

Dr. Stephanie Loveland

Dr. Stephanie Loveland joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in September 2023. She received her bachelor degree from UW Platteville in 2016 and went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2020. Her first three years of practice were spent at a busy multi-doctor practice gaining experience with various medical and emergency cases. Her professional interests include dermatology and preventative medicine. 

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, and cooking with her daughter and husband. At home, you’ll find her cuddling with her black cat named Jax and her two dogs, Dunkin (Lab mix) and Timber (German Shorthair Pointer). 

She is excited to join the Waunakee Veterinary team and meet all the amazing members of the community!

Certified Veterinary Technicians

Brittany Schultz, CVT

Brittany has been with Waunakee Veterinary Clinic since 2004 starting as a Veterinary Assistant.  She graduated from Madison Area Technical College in 2006 with a degree in Veterinary Technology.  She is a member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Technician Association and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America.  Her interests are in surgery and anesthesia.  

Brittany was born in Richland Center and grew up on her family’s dairy farm.  She has always had a passion for working and caring for animals from cats to cows.  She currently calls Waunakee home where she lives with her husband James and the bosses of the house, her cats Budda and Belly.  When not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors, going to truck and tractor pulls, watching bull riding and playing with baby calves. Brittany and her husband have a young daughter at home (who all the staff love), named Ellye. 

Rael Gilmore, CVT

Rael graduated from MATC in 2009 with a degree in Veterinary Technology.  She joined Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in May 2011 and is excited to be part of the team.  Her job interests are in lab work and surgery.

Rael was born in California, but grew up in Wisconsin and now lives in north Madison.  She grew up with dachshunds and now shares her life with her wonderful husband, Aaron and their two feline children: Lilly and Vinnie.  While not working, Rael enjoys listening to music, watching trashy TV shows, and cooking. 

Kim Sweno, CVT

Kim graduated in 2014 from UW River Falls with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science with a Vet Tech Emphasis and an Associates Degree from MATC in Veterinary Technology. She became a part of the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in August of 2016 and is thrilled to be a part of the team. Her professional interests include surgery and anesthesia.

Kim was born and raised in Waunakee, where she currently lives with her boyfriend Trevor and roommates (aka her parents). She has always had a love and connection for all animals, but most especially dachshunds. She has three miniature dachshunds at home Riley, Marley, and Ebony. In her free time she enjoys reading, playing soccer, and spending time outside.

Zach Zimbal, CVT

Zach graduated in 2014 from Madison College’s Veterinary Technician program. Zach has been working in the veterinary field for 7 years. He joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in August of 2017 after settling down in the Madison area.

Zach was born and raised in Sheboygan Falls and later moved to Madison to attend school. Growing up, Zach spent time caring for the family cats, dogs, and mink. Zach currently has a Pembroke Welsch Corgi named Douglas. Currently, Zach and his girlfriend Jolene are dog foster parents for a local shelter. Aside from spending most of his free time with dogs, he enjoys watching Indy racing, video games and enjoying the outdoors.

Hayden Tirilok, VA

Hayden attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in Life Science Communications on the pre-veterinary medicine track. She has been a part of the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic team since June 2023, and has spent time working in boarding and daycare in addition to her role as a veterinary assistant. Since working at WVC, she has gained an immense amount of knowledge and hands-on experience in the veterinary field, which she will take with her as she continues her path to becoming a veterinarian. In her free time, she loves to cook,
spend time with her friends, and explore the city of Madison. She is originally from Marblehead, Massachusetts, where she lived with her family and dog Cleo.

Jennah Raffel, VA

Jennah joined the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in May of 2023 as a veterinary technician assistant. Previously she had worked at a pet store where she cared for a variety of animals and enjoyed talking with owners about animal husbandry. She has had a love for animals her whole life and currently has a “mini zoo” which consists of 12 rats, 5 mice, 2 bunnies, 2 tortoises, 1 leachianus gecko, and 3 cats. She has a special interest in exotic species and loves seeing them come in for appointments. She is currently attending Madison College for general education credits before deciding on her next steps, but her dream is to open a non-profit small animal rescue in the future.


Customer Care Specialists

Sarah Olson

Sarah grew up in Verona, WI. She currently resides in Waunakee with her husband Turk. In her spare time she enjoys playing volleyball, attending sporting events and spending time with family and friends. Sarah is excited to be part of the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic family.

Samantha Mieske

Samantha has been working in the veterinary field since August 2013. She resides in Waunakee with her husband and son. She became part of the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic in June of 2018 and is thrilled to be part of the team. She has two Pomeranians, Rubi and Keanu; as well as a cat, Nova. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and spending time with her pets and family.

Hannah Van De Kreeke

Hannah has been working with animals since 2020, and recently started her veterinary receptionist journey in April of 2023. Growing up, Hannah lived on a small hobby farm near Manitowoc, WI and would spend her free time gardening and helping tend to her family’s chickens. She enjoys hiking, bird watching, and entertaining her two cats, Plum and Simone.

Cortney

Cortney majored in Zoology and Psychology at the University of Madison in 2007.  After graduated from college she turned her passion for animals into a career by attending grooming academy.  She has been grooming since graduating academy in April 2008.  She enjoys helping pets feel and look their best.  She has a cat named Arian.  When not working she enjoys hiking, photography, kayaking and watching movies. 


Boarding and Daycare Staff

Gabi

Gabi attends Waunakee High School and is enrolled in the Youth Apprenticeship program with goals to become a Veterinary Technician. She has been part of the Waunakee Veterinary Clinic team since summer 2021. She enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, Cami & Lady, her 2 horses Beaver & Zoey and attending concerts. Her most enjoyable part working here is taking care of the boarding/daycare pets, and learning how to provide best veterinary care

Hattie

Hattie attends Waunakee High School and is enrolled in the Youth Apprenticeship program which provides her the opportunity to learn more about veterinary medicine and working. She aspires to become a veterinarian. She joined Waunakee Veterinary Clinic team 2021. She enjoys spending time with her cat Simon, attending football games, horseback riding, playing club volleyball and being artistic. She prides herself in treating the boarding/daycare pets like they are her own and being able to gain knowledge about veterinary medicine through hands on experiences.
